The Ultimate Use of PTFE Envelope Gasket

PTFE is an inert material. Hence it has outstanding resistance to most of mineral and organic chemicals such as acids, alkali and solvents. It can be used in temperatures up to approximately 260ºC.

PTFE can be prone to relaxation and creep. Therefore, expanded or filled grades such as UKL Soft-Plus often used.

To overcome some of these effects. PTFE can be used as a wrapped around the core inserts material, to create what is known as a PTFE envelope gasket.

A PTFE envelope gasket is consists of an envelope of PTFE with core insert material.

The most important benefit of envelope gaskets is that it provide the strength and properties of the inlay material along with the properties of PTFE

PTFE envelope gasket are widely use in severely corrosive media due to characteristics of outstanding creep resistance, high deformability ,low seating stresses and choice of a variety of filler materials depends on application.

PTFE sheet manufacturers can supply all types of customize products as per requirements.

Types of PTFE envelope gasket

There are two types of PTFE envelopes gasket

  • Slit type/ V type- Suitable for most application
  • Milled Type/ Square cut- Suitable for thick insert & abrasive media
Properties of a PTFE envelope gasket

PTFE envelope gaskets combine the benefits of different materials:

  • Excellent resistance to almost all chemicals
  • Wide temperature range. Depends both on the envelope as the core material.
  • Good pressure resistance, depending on the choice of the core material.
  • Anti-adhesive surface
  • UV and ageing resistant
  • Excellent dielectric properties
  • Long-term stable compression and recovery characteristics
  • Low permeability towards gases and liquids
  • excellent non-stick characteristics
PTFE envelope gasket applications
  • Use in food sector and pharmaceutical industries.
  • Use in pipeline flanges, device and container flanges
  • Use in Glass lined pipe systems, distillation columns and reactor vessels where non-contamination is essential.
  • Chemical aggressive environment, which is hazardous for health.
  • Wide range of applications mostly in the chemical and petro-chemical sector

PTFE envelope gaskets manufacturers, manufacture envelope gasket in accordance with the international safety standards including FDA regulations depending on the preferred application
